The continuing education courses offered at HEC enable the massage practitioner and therapist to improve their skills for their resume, career, and client satisfaction and retention. The sky's the limit at HEC, where you get the best education the first-time around from the world renowned Sandy Fritz and her instructing staff. If you have graduated from another school with 500 or more class hours, you can participate in our workshops and Advanced Practitioner Diploma Program.
THE CONTINUING EDUCATION INSTITUTE AT HEALTH ENRICHMENT CENTER
Health Enrichment Center offers several workshops through out the year. These workshops vary in hours and cost and are considered individual workshops and are not a program. A prerequisite of previous training in therapeutic massage is required for some of the individual workshops. Workshops are licensed by the State of Michigan and Approved by NCBTMB (National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworkers). ACCSCT approves Health Enrichment Center Programs not workshops.
Dr. Leon Chaitow will be lecturing on May 20 & 21, 2009. Topic being "Effects of Manual Therapies on Pain" Cost is $350. Please call to register.

Spa Therapies

The spa setting is becoming a more challenging place to work. As the industry grows and begins to provided fitness as well as medical services it is important to remain current. This workshop will cover the underlying theories of reflexology, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, stone massage, fundamentals of spa products and more. Sandy Fritz will teach the class and will be able to target the specific educational needs of the group.
Ethics

For this workshop you will receive 2 certificates. One for Ethics 5 hours and one for Ethics (standard 5) Roles and Boundaries 2 hours. This class will be designed to meet the requirements of the NCBMT but will also target your specific ethical concerns.

Dr. Leon Chaitow is returning to the Health Enrichment Center for this very informative workshop. Pain management is an underlying theme in almost all client goals for massage. New research has indicated that to effectively manage pain with massage you need to understand the following--- neural desensitization.......biomechanical effects......release of endorphins & endocannibanoids....... psychological effects of bodywork.....the whole trigger point story.....+ hydrotherapy effects.

Based on graduate survey results this class will provide information on the most requested topics.
Day 1 will cover Myofascial methods, functional movement and assessment.
Day 2 will cover Energy based methods and Cranial Sacral type work.
Workshop student is to keep all materials, certificates and statement for their personal records.
